Perfusion & Extracorporeal Technology

Overview:

The mission of the Center for Perfusion and Extracorporeal Technology is to train competent, focused and highly-skilled perfusion technicians. Using evidence-based medicine, the program will produce students ready for board examinations and prepare graduates to perform the duties and responsibilities of a cardiovascular perfusionist in a variety of clinical settings.

Accreditation:

Programs with Candidacy Status

There are currently no perfusion programs holding Candidacy status through the AC-PE.

Candidacy status is recognized by the AC-PE and is not a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accreditation status.  Application for Candidacy status is optional for new programs.  Programs applying for Candidacy status work with the  Accreditation Committee-Perfusion Education (AC-PE) during program development prior to beginning the accreditation process.  The Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational Programs in Perfusion are used to guide programs during development.  Once Candidacy status is granted, it has been determined the program has a solid foundation and is making satisfactory progress toward preparation for accreditation requirements.  However, Candidacy status does not guarantee that accreditation will eventually be granted by CAAHEP.
